On Saturday, September 28, 2024, Attorney Keiji Yoshikawa spoke at a global seminar held at the University of Tokyo, organized by “Horitsu Sensei,” a platform service partnering with over 400,000 lawyers and 6,000 law firms. He delivered a lecture titled “Legal Considerations in Cross-Border M&A” to a delegation of legal professionals visiting from China.

During the seminar, he explained the Japanese regulatory framework that foreign companies must consider when acquiring Japanese firms. Specifically, he covered regulations under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA), various industry-specific business laws, and the Economic Security Promotion Act. In the latter half of the session, he also provided an explanation on data integration, a critical issue that arises particularly during the acquisition of tech companies.
